Developing good character in children is one of the most important education issues in society today. As an expert of Character Education for children, JEMS Learning House (JEMS = Junior Excellent Members of Society) particularly focuses on teaching young children the right moral, social and civic values, which sum up the three main concepts of the school, and raise year by year groups of “Junior Excellent Members of Society”. From first discovering self identities to building relationship with others, these young children have gradually learnt how to contribute to the community in the past year. As the semester ends in rejoice, the 5th Graduation Ceremony cum Charity Carnival will be held on 28th June 2014. Children will get a chance to exercise what they have learnt in the process of organizing the event; and thus show support and share happiness with children from The Society for the Relief of Disabled Children. The 5th Graduation cum Charity Carnival will have over 700 participants and will be even more exciting than in previous years. Aside from a series of drama plays, speeches and talent shows, there will also be game stations and booths for charity sales set up at the venue. The whole event will be planned and organized by over a hundred Junior Members throughout a period of several months. It will be a values-based carnival where guests will learn about character traits such as responsibility, thankfulness, empathy as they play and participate. All proceeds raised will be donated to support The Society for the Relief of Disabled Children. Last year, JEMS Learning House’s Graduation Ceremony cum Community Fundraiser Event attracted more than 400 guests and successfully raised HKD100,000 for The Hong Kong Society for the Deaf. The results were encouraging, inspiring little children to strive for even greater success and higher records in this year’s event. Ms. Christine Ma-Lau, principal and founder of JEMS Learning House, said, “Early childhood is the golden period for cultivating correct moral values in children. Seeing all these junior leaders gradually reflect the spirits of love, selflessness, care, as well as responsibility through independent thinking and teamwork has made me feel really touched and happy. I believe the Junior Members are now ready and well-equipped with virtues and morals to be ‘Junior Excellent Members of Society’. I hope everyone can support and encourage children to continue helping more people in need.”
