The Graduation Ceremony of students at JEMS Learning House is one of the most celebrative events in the education industry, as it signifies that a new group of respectful and polite children have graduated and are now prepared to organize their own charitable ceremony to give back to society! Renowned as the expert of Character Education, JEMS Learning House (JEMS = Junior Excellent Members of Society) focuses particularly on teaching young children the right moral, social and civic values, which sum up the three main concepts of the school. From first discovering self-identities to building relationships with others, these young children have gradually learnt how to contribute to the community in the past years, and were given the chance to demonstrate their growth in organizing the 5th Graduation Ceremony cum Charity Carnival on the 28th of July, further adding to the joy of the school’s 5th anniversary.

The JEMS Graduation Ceremony cum Charity Carnival attracted an attendance of over 700 guests, including many renowned figures of society such as Prof. Joseph Sung, SBS, JP, Vice Chancellor and President of The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Prof. Gabriel Leung, Dean, Li Ka Shing Faculty of Medicine, The University of Hong Kong, Prof. N.K. Leung, Chairman of the SAHK, Prof. Rosie Young, GBS, JP, Honorary Professor, The University of Hong Kong, Prof. Frederick Ma, GBS, JP, Honorary Professor, The University of Hong Kong, Mr. Antony Leung, GBS, OBE, JP, Chief Executive Officer of Nan Fung Group, Mr. Adrian Li, Deputy Chief Executive of Bank of East Asia, and Mr. Vivian Lee, Chairman of The Society for the Relief of Disabled Children to come and show support for the little graduates. Friends of JEMS Mr. Brandon Chau and Mrs. Jenny Chau, as well as Mr. Stanley Sun and Mrs. Jacqueline Sun also joined the carnival. Throughout the event, the 200 JEMS students aged 3 to 12 fully exercised what they have learnt to raise funds for The Society for the Relief of Disabled Children, collecting over HKD100,000 to share love and happiness with their disabled counterparts. The results were truly encouraging!

The event was kicked off by a welcome speech by Mrs. Christine Ma-Lau, Founder and Principal of JEMS Learning House, followed by a highly inspirational speech delivered by special guest Mr. Fredrick Ma. Mr. Vivian Lee, Chairman of The Society for the Relief of Disabled Children, also expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the JEMS students for their endeavours in the preparation of the fundraising event. After that, Mrs. Christine Ma-Lau invited every honourable guest up to the stage to start the ribbon-cutting ceremony. The JEMS students then took the stage to present a series of sensational performances and began the exciting raffle draw.
Apart from the heartwarming stage performances, a number of fundraising booths were set up at the venue by the students. In the meantime, the Graduation Ceremony was also held to celebrate the students’ year-long achievement in the accompaniment of parents, relatives and friends.
Mrs. Christine Ma-Lau was gratified by the students’ dedication, “What moves me the most is seeing how these little children gave in their very best in the process of brainstorming, practising and rehearsing for the event. Everyone was in charge of different things and they all performed excellent manners, respect, responsibility, discipline and team-spirit. Whether on stage or not, I could clearly see their growth over the year. In the past four years, we were always able to raise over HKD100,000 each year to support different charitable organizations in our graduation party. Now with the school’s 5th anniversary coming up, let’s spread the love and help more people in need!”

The upcoming JEMS Annual Programme is now open for application. To sign up for free trial classes, please call 31881516.
