For immediate release 30 April 2026 Lee Kum Kee Family Foundation proudly presents Online Version: https://public.seedland.hk/press/LKKFF/2604-Drawing_Competition/
Lee Kum Kee Family Foundation (hereinafter referred to as the “Foundation”) is dedicated to building harmonious and healthy relationships within family and society. Promoting the culture of “Appreciation Starts at Home”, the Foundation advocates for designating the second Sunday of October as “Grandparents’ Day” each year to strengthen intergenerational bonds and foster mutual respect and appreciation across grandparents, parents, and grandchildren. As the first key activity of “Grandparents’ Day 2026” – “GenLove Precious Moments” Drawing Competition 2026 has officially commenced, primary and secondary students in Hong Kong are cordially invited to co-create original artworks with grandparents that celebrate family love. Winners will receive fabulous prizes, and outstanding artworks will be selected for public exhibition at the “Grandparents’ Day 2026 Funfair” on 11 October. Themed “Holistic Well-being”, “Grandparents’ Day 2026” will feature various activities that embody the “Five Love Languages” and transform wellness into a shared family experience. To enhance communication, mutual understanding and create memorable moments between grandparents and grandchildren, this drawing competition has specially incorporated the elements of “Think, Talk, Create”. This approach encourages grandparents and grandchildren to share conversations and express their feelings through artwork or AI.
The competition is divided into two categories: Primary School and Secondary School. Primary School participants are required to complete the artwork by hand-drawing, which may be presented in various artistic mediums including pastel, sketch, watercolour, ink painting, oil painting, coloured pencil, pen drawing, etc. Secondary School participants are required to submit works that are generated using AI. Open for applications from 27 April to 17 July, the competition follows the “Think, Talk, Create” framework, which invites participants to engage in heartfelt conversations with their grandparents to learn about their wishes on one of two themes: (1) the activities grandparents most wish to do with their grandchildren or (2) the memory grandparents most cherish with their grandchildren. Based on this exchange, they have to provide a short description of no more than 200 words and create either a hand drawing (for Primary School) or an AI generated piece (for Secondary School) as their entry. To enhance communication and mutual understanding between grandparents and grandchildren through collaboration, the description may be written by the grandparents themselves or by the grandchildren on their behalf. Participants shall submit their entry alongside a registration form downloaded from the competition website. (Please click here for details). The judging panel of the competition consists of:
Winners will be selected based on the criteria of “Theme”, “Content”, “Composition & Artistic Techniques” (for Primary School) / “Composition & Technical Skills” (for Secondary School), and “Creativity & Originality”. Both Primary School and Secondary School categories feature a Champion, First Runner-up, Second Runner-up, and Merit Awards. The Champion, First Runner-up and Second Runner-up will receive a Certificate of Achievement and book vouchers worth HK$1,500, HK$1,000 and HK$500 respectively, while Merit Award Winners (30 winners in each category) will each receive a Certificate of Achievement. All participants will receive a Certificate of Participation. An award presentation ceremony will be held at the Lee Kum Kee Family Foundation “Grandparents’ Day 2026 Funfair” on 11 October, and their winning entries will be exhibited publicly.
