A showcase of Kum Shing’s latest sustainability concept: Eco Pylons.

Two showcases of Kum Shing’s latest sustainability concepts were on display, demonstrating the group’s determination in promoting sustainable development. Both showcases are designed by young architect Mr. Vicky Chan, highlighting Kum Shing’s commitment to supporting young talents. The Eco Pylons showcase manifests the vision of Kum Shing, an energy infrastructure specialist, in promoting the circular economy and sustainable development by utilising recyclable materials, upgrading and transforming them into resources that can be reused in a circular manner.

Over the years, Kum Shing has been providing comprehensive turnkey services for various energy infrastructure projects, covering the entire asset lifecycle of engineering, procurement and construction. This enables Kum Shing to understand and explore the versatility of materials. Decommissioned transmission pylons will be transformed into Eco Pylons to preserve and utilise the structural steel from pylons and salvaged structural wood from electrical poles, and repurpose them as amenities to hikers. The Eco Pylons will be equipped with solar panels to provide various power services for hikers through renewable energy sources, such as Wi-Fi networks, mobile phone charging, weather data, and more.

A showcase of Kum Shing’s latest sustainability concepts: a solar charging station and a charging unit of ZETTA.

The solar charging station display illustrates a potential solution for charging electric scooters and bicycles by solar devices, making them convenient means for the general public to travel between home and public transportation. These devices that can be installed in public parking lots, stations and schools are destined to become essential components of sustainable city infrastructure.

The display also features a charging unit of ZETTA, Kum Shing’s new EV infrastructure initiative that provides a fast charging solution for EVs with a charging power of up to 480 kW. ZETTA offers DC group charging that allows 1 charger to connect up to 12 satellite charging units, and provides fast charging services for up to 12 EVs simultaneously. The satellite charging units only occupy about 10% of the space of traditional fast chargers, thus can be installed at tiny space in carparks to enhance the flexibility in space usage. Through building an extensively distributed charging network throughout the city, Kum Shing’s ZETTA lays a solid foundation for promoting the electrification of commercial vehicles.
