Press Release (For immediate release)                                   2nd February 2012

Ekin Cheng and Louisa So shoot new Plan campaign
in support of the “Walk for Children” taking place at Ocean Park on 4 th March:
Invite community participation in the event

Since taking up the role of Plan Ambassadors, renowned entertainment artists Ekin Cheng and Louisa So have rendered tremendous support to Plan International Hong Kong.   Besides signing up for the Child Sponsorship Programme, they have also visited their sponsored children in Cambodia in order to gain first-hand experience of their living and learning environments.

The visit moved them greatly and enabled them to understand how much Plan’s projects have influenced and changed the lives of children in developing countries. In this, the organisation’s 75th anniversary year in 2012, Plan International Hong Kong will hold its first-ever large-scale public fundraiser, its “Walk for Children”, to gain more support for its work. Once again, Ekin and Louisa have had no hesitation in playing their part in Plan’s campaign for the event. In addition to recommending the organisation to their personal friends, they have shot a series of promotional photos and a video aimed at encouraging as much public support as possible.

Open to all sectors of the public, Plan’s “Walk for Children” aims to raise funds for underprivileged children in China, Cambodia and Kenya, Africa. The route begins at the new entry plaza of Ocean Park – the Ocean Square, passing various attractions within the Park, such as Grand Aquarium, Aqua City Lagoon, Giant Panda Adventure, Ocean Express, Ocean Park Tower, The Dragon and the Amazing Bird Theatre, with Whiskers Theatre being the ultimate destination.

There will be awards for the overall top three teams and top three participants who raise the most money and Best Dressed Awards for the top three outstanding teams. Participants are welcome to design their outfits with “ocean” or “kids” related themes on the day of the event. The event is now open for enrolment and the deadline is 20th February 2012. Please visit the website of Plan International Hong Kong (www.plan.org.hk) for more details or call 3583 3100 for enrolment and enquiries.

Plan Ambassador Louisa So said, “Numerous children are still living beneath the poverty line, where survival is a struggle, let alone going to school… Plan has assisted children in need all over the world by supplying them with fundamental medical and educational facilities. I’m deeply moved by such contributions. What about you? Take part in the ‘Walk for Children’ on 4th of March in Ocean Park and lend a helping hand to children in China, Cambodia and Kenya, Africa. How can you not support such a meaningful activity?”

Plan Ambassador Ekin Cheng added, “I got the chance to chat, sing and play with children in Cambodia during my visit there, and I was really impressed by how smart and cheery they are. Today, their innocent smiles still linger on my mind. Perhaps it’s true that it takes ages to improve the lives of these children, but isn’t it appealing that even seemingly minimal efforts on our part will bring them great changes? Look forward to seeing you at the ‘Walk for Children’ organised by Plan. We need you to light up the lives of these needy children!”
