Press Release (For Immediate release)                              19th January 2012

Limited edition pencil cases featuring popular comic characters Mcmug & Mcdull Proposed in support of “Walk for Children” by Plan Hong Kong and Ocean Park

Ms Alice Mak, Plan “Because I am a Girl” Ambassador and Illustrator of comic characters Mcmug and Mcdull, has always endeavoured to support Plan. Following her supportive participation in the Because I am a Girl Campaign last year, she went on to design an exclusive and exquisite pencil case to be given as a souvenir to all the zealous participants of the Plan Hong Kong “Walk for Children” on 4th March 2012! Mcmug, Mcdull and Derby on the pencil case are all happy to have the colourful Plan caps on, appearing as passionate as the adults and children taking part in the walkathon. And Mcdull, in particular, proudly finishes his masterpiece: a giant birthday cake to celebrate Plan’s 75th anniversary! Isn’t the most meaningful souvenir that marks the theme of the walk?

Open to all sectors of the public, Plan International Hong Kong presents “Walk for Children” which aims to raise funds for underprivileged children in China, Cambodia and Kenya of Africa respectively. The route begins at the new entry plaza of Ocean Park – the Ocean Square, passing various attractions of the Park, such as the Grand Aquarium, Aqua City Lagoon, Giant Panda Adventure, Ocean Express, Ocean Park Tower, The Dragon and the Amazing Bird Theatre, with Whiskers Theatre being the destination. There will be awards for the overall top three teams and top three participants who raise the most money in The Plan Hong Kong Walkathon. There will also be the Best Dressed Awards for the top three outstanding teams. Participants are welcome to design their outfits with “ocean” or “kids” related themes on the day of the event. The event is now open for enrolment. Please visit the website of Plan International Hong Kong (www.plan.org.hk) for more details.

Ms Alice Mak, Plan Because I am a Girl Ambassador and Illustrator of comic characters Mcmug and Mcdull, says, “Dedicated to bringing lasting improvements in the quality of life of children, Plan International has provided help to over 10 million children and their families around the world. Ocean Park is a place that lights up children’s faces. Plan’s choice of the theme park as the venue of the walkathon is most appropriate as it will allow families to help deprived children from faraway places on the one hand and enjoy good fun on the other. It will also be a great occasion for parents to educate their children about the importance of helping others.”
