Press release 19th July 2019 “Paint it! The Coffee Cup Art!” Prize Presentation Ceremony celebrating youth talent and raising funds for Principal Chan Free Tutorial World Online version: http://www.public.seedland.hk/press/PC/1907_Ceremony/ The “Paint it! The Coffee Cup Art!” campaign, organised by Pacific Coffee and Seedland Educational Charitable Foundation, and fully supported by Hong Kong Book Fair, in which children and teenagers were invited to paint in the theme of “The Future Hong Kong” on paper cups, aims to cultivate creativity among the young and raise funds for “Principal Chan Free Tutorial World”. The winning artworks by Champions of the Primary School Category and Secondary School Category are currently used on tall-size and grande-size paper cups respectively. With each tall-size or grande-size cup of Brewed Coffee bearing the award-winning designs sold in July 2019, Pacific Coffee will donate $1 to the beneficiary to support its charitable cause of providing a fair chance of learning for all. To celebrate the creativity of young artists, a Prize Presentation Ceremony was held on 19th July 2019, at the Children Paradise of Hong Kong Book Fair. The Prize Presentation Ceremony was commenced with a welcome speech by Mr. Jonathan Somerville, Chief Executive Officer, Pacific Coffee (Hong Kong & Overseas), followed by a speech by Principal Chan Hung, Founder of Principal Chan Free Tutorial World. Principal Chan expressed his utmost gratitude to the generous support of Pacific Coffee, Seedland Educational Charitable Foundation, and Hong Kong Book Fair. The Prize Presentation Ceremony was graced by many prestigious guests, including Ms Sophia Chong, Assistant Executive Director of Hong Kong Trade Development Council, who presented the Creativity Awards of the Primary School Category, Ms Helena Hui, Chairperson of Seedland Educational Charitable Foundation, and Ms Priscilla Yeung, Senior Manager of Exhibitions, Hong Kong Trade Development Council, who presented the Creativity Awards of the Secondary School Category. Principal Chan Hung and Mr. Jonathan Somerville later took the stage to present the prizes to the Champions, First Runners-Up and the Second Runners-Up of the Primary School Category and Secondary School Category. The Ceremony was concluded with a tour around the Family Corner, where winning designs were on display. Mr. Jonathan Somerville remarked, “Pacific Coffee strives to be a contributing member to the community we serve. It is our pleasure to support Principal Chan Free Tutorial World in its good cause of helping underprivileged children to gain a fair chance in receiving quality education. Children and teenagers are the future pillars of our society. As they picture ‘The Future Hong Kong’ with their vivid imagination, their delightful cup designs will turn into donations that facilitate a brighter future for other children.” Principal Chan Hung remarked, “A fair chance of learning for all, refers to not only the chance to learn but also the chance to grow and thrive through education. Given the competitiveness that students face today, those from the grassroot community with limited resources may find it difficult to seek help when they encounter difficulties in learning, and hence undermine their opportunities of furthering their studies. Principal Chan Free Tutorial World was established to provide free one-on-one tutorial services, free playgroups and pre-schools, and free talent development classes to underprivileged students. We are extremely grateful for the support of Pacific Coffee, Seedland Educational Charitable Foundation and Hong Kong Book Fair, not only for their generosity, but also for their effort in calling upon the contribution of the young artists and the public to empower our work.” On top of donating $1 for each tall-size or grande-size cup of Brewed Coffee bearing the award-winning designs sold in July 2019, Pacific Coffee will also set up donation boxes at their coffeehouses* to collect cash donation for Principal Chan Free Tutorial World in August. *Except all hospitals, Hong Kong International Airport and Asia World-Expo coffeehouses.
