Principal Chan Free Tutorial World was founded by Principal Chan in 2011 with the aim of providing underprivileged students with one-on-one tutorials and educational guidance for free. Driven by his insights into providing support for underprivileged children so as to enhance their competitiveness in furthering their studies, he quitted his job as the principal of a DSS secondary school in 2009 and established “Principal Chan Free Tutorial World”. With the support of many generous people in the society who have committed their time and effort as volunteer teachers, more than 12,000 students have been matched to receive free one-on-one tutorial services. In 2013, Principal Chan launched free pre-school and extracurricular programmes, which have served more than 6,000 underprivileged students so far. In 2017, Principal Chan was awarded Honorary Fellowship by the Hong Kong University of Education in recognition of his achievements and devotion.
